Two little ghosts, one light to share 👻
Luna has a blue moon, Rose has a pink bow, and the way home is a little more complicated than it looks. Haunted Hearts is a Halloween cooperation puzzle about making space for someone else. Guide the two ghosts through eight compact rooms, collect their own half-hearts and finish together at their matching arches.
The ghosts move independently. You can solve every room alone by switching between them, or share one device and take turns planning. There is no countdown, move limit or remote multiplayer lobby. A patient discussion is often more useful than a quick finger.
The cover above is an original illustration made for this collection. The image below is an actual capture of the game interface.

How to play Haunted Hearts
Choose Play game to load the puzzle, then select a room. Click a ghost or its portrait, or press Q, to decide who moves next. Use the arrow keys, WASD, the direction buttons, or an adjacent square to move. A move affects the selected ghost; the partner stays where you left them.
Luna collects the blue half-heart and uses blue moon paths. Rose collects the pink half-heart and uses pink rose paths. Each needs their own matching exit, and the ghosts cannot occupy the same square. Bringing one ghost home is a useful step, but both hearts and both home positions are required to complete the room.
Keep the door open for your partner
Moon and star pressure plates open matching gates while a ghost stands on them. A plate is not a permanent switch. Before the helper leaves, check whether their partner still needs that gate. In later rooms, another plate can let one ghost take over the job.
Pass the lantern at the right moment
The shared lantern lets its carrier enter mist. When the ghosts stand next to each other, use L or the lantern button to pass it. A ghost already in mist may leave after handing the lantern away. That small detail makes some crossings possible, so leave room for the other ghost to approach.
A kinder way to learn the rooms
The eight rooms introduce personal paths, gates and lantern handovers in stages. Try a small plan, look at the result and revise it. Z or Undo reverses a move; Restart brings the selected room back to its beginning. There is no penalty for taking your time.
The Hint button examines the current position and suggests the next action on a shortest route when a solution exists. It selects the relevant ghost, but you still make the move. If a position cannot be solved, undo a few moves or restart. Hints are help for a particular state, not a promise that every experiment leaves a route open.
For a friendly replay challenge, compare your completed-room move count with your earlier best. The move targets are optional goals, never barriers to finishing.
Share a room, not an unfinished save
A room link opens that room from the beginning. Completed-room bests, language and sound preferences stay in the current browser. Reloading restarts the selected room instead of restoring each unfinished move, and records do not sync across devices.
The game interface offers English and Simplified Chinese. Use its own language control after opening it. Optional synthesized sounds begin only when allowed by your browser; the puzzle remains understandable without sound.
A quick look before playing

Questions before the moon sets
Do I need a second player?
No. Character switching makes every room playable solo. Two people can share one device and discuss or take turns; online multiplayer is not included.
Is this a love calculator?
No. It is a heart-themed logic puzzle. It does not ask for names, measure compatibility or score a relationship.
Why will a ghost not enter the mist?
Check who holds the lantern, whether the destination is the correct personal path and whether another ghost occupies the square. A closed gate may also require a helper to stay on its matching plate.
Another small adventure 🍬
Try Moonlit Mirrors for a different kind of teamwork: one direction moves both ghosts across reflected rooms. For a lighter pause, open the playful Love Tester. You can also visit the Halloween collection or star Haunted Hearts on GitHub to follow its updates.
